On Wednesday, a 30-second video purporting to show a Giant Moon completely blocking out the sun in the Arctic between Russia and Canada went popular online, eventually collecting more than 20 million views.
Most people shared the video with the following titles:
“IMAGINE SITTING IN THIS PLACE DURING THE DAY(IN BETWEEN RUSSIA AND CANADA IN ARCTIC) WHEN THE MOON APPEARS IN THIS GIANT SIZE FOR 30 SECONDS AND AFTER BLOCKING THE SUN FOR 5 SECONDS DISAPPEARS. GLORY TO GOD FOR HIS CREATION.”
“THIS IS ARTIC.. BETWEEN RUSSIA AND CANADA. MOON APPEARS THIS BIG AND DISAPPEARS WITHIN 30 SECONDS. WHAT A SIGHT!”
The video was originally published on TikTok by an artist aleksey__nz and it has crossed more than 20 million views. It is the same artist that has previously shared the “UFO on Moon” video.
There are a few things to keep in mind that suggest the video is fake, the first of which is that the Arctic region never has grass since it is always covered in snow, yet in the video, there is a grassy patch that can be seen.
The second important thing to observe is that the Giant moon does not reflect in the lake. Third, the video was released just as the world was getting ready to see the mega cosmic event that is Super Blood Moon on Wednesday.
