Heathrow & other European Airports have been hit by a cyber attack this morning, leading to delays in flights and cancellations. The attack affected automated operations, rendering them inoperable, including the electronic check-in and baggage system reported so far.

Collins Aerospace, which provides software to airports for check-in and baggage systems, said “they are aware of the cyber attack.”. It has been reported by “select airports,” and they are working on it to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

“The impact is limited to electronic customer check-in and baggage drop and can be mitigated with manual check-in operations.” company gave statement to BBC

RTX, the company that owns Collins Aerospace, said it is aware of the “cyber-related disruptions.”. Heathrow Airport, Brussels Airport, Berlin Airport, and Dublin Airport have been reported as the most affected by cyber-attack so far.

Many passengers have flooded X (formerly Twitter), expressing dismay over the flight delays and cancellations.

Heathrow and other airport authorities have advised passengers to confirm their flight status before arriving at the airport. More than 300 flights have been delayed so far, while 8 flights have been cancelled.

It is still not confirmed who is behind the cyber attack, but fingers have been pointed towards Russian hackers. LNER, the major UK train operator, has also confirmed a cyber attack leading to a data breach.
