CHATGPT is understood to be down, with more than 8,000 reports in the past few hours. Thousands of users across the country have reported problems with OpenAI, which operates the popular chatbot.
According to data from Downdetector, reports peaked around 3.30pm this afternoon, when 8481 users logged problems with the large language model.
A status message on OpenAI’s website read:
“We are currently experiencing issues.”
It confirmed users have been unable to load ChatGPT, API Platform and Codex, its AI coding partner. Users trying to use the chatbot are being met with a loading dot on screen and no response.
The status update said there is a “partial outage”, reading:
“We are investigating the issue for the listed services. Impacted users are currently unable to access ChatGPT, Codex and API Platform.”
It showed that 12 of ChatGPT’s components were affected by either “degraded performance” or “partial outage”. Earlier today, the company said ChatGPT Business users may have encountered issues after upgrading.
After an investigation, it said the problems had been fixed.
