According to Reuters, a White House official has stated that Apple will boost its commitment to manufacturing in the United States.
The internet giant plans to invest an additional $100 billion in the U.S. to enhance product production, following a prior commitment of $500 billion over four years.
The $500 billion commitment includes creating a new sophisticated manufacturing facility in Houston to produce servers for Apple Intelligence, making Apple TV+ in 20 states, and collaborating with US suppliers.
The news comes as President Trump has threatened the iPhone maker with tariffs unless it shifts more manufacturing from Asia to the US.
Apple, which mostly produces its gadgets in India, China, and Vietnam, has already been impacted by tariffs. During an earnings call last month, CEO Tim Cook stated that the business spent $800 million on tariffs in June and plans to spend another $1.1 billion in the upcoming quarter.
