Google is prepared to pay $30 million in order to settle a class action lawsuit stating that it impacted on privacy of children on YouTube.

According to the children privacy lawsuit, Google gathered information from kids who watched YouTube videos. Although this type of data collecting has become widespread, the long-standing COPPA regulation still makes it unlawful to gather information from kids younger than 13.

Despite agreeing to a settlement, Google disputes these claims. Anyone in the United States who watched YouTube while under the age of 13 between July 1, 2013, and April 1, 2020, may be eligible to receive minor payouts from this class action, which may potentially benefit up to 45 million people.
