HSBC, First Direct & Chase Down: Users face issues with Mobile App Services

HSBC users took X platform to show frustration about the services outage

HSBC, First Direct & Chase Bank’s mobile app services goes down today, near 11:30 am on 27th August 2025. All three banks have officially announced service interruption on the official services status page.

DownDetector, a famous service status tracking website, shows that more than 4600 users reported issues with the HSBC Mobile App & Internet Banking, while hundreds of users reported similar problems with the First Direct & Chase Mobile Banking App.

Live outage map on DownDetector shows London, Manchester & Birmingham are facing the issue. Around 63% users faced issues with Mobile Banking, while 32% users faced issues with Online Banking & 6% being unable to Login in Mobile App.

HSBC, which owns First Direct, also posted an update on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the issue, stating, “We understand some customers are having issues accessing banking services right now. We’re really sorry and are investigating as a matter of urgency. We will share an update as soon as possible.”

A similar message is also posted on X by First Direct. Users reported that they see an error stating “Sorry, your information is not available right now, please try again later.”

Some customers reported that they are unable to see their bank balances. Others reported that they are unable to make payments or access their accounts.

HSBC UK has 14.7 million active accounts, including both Business and Retail customers and has more than 24000 staff.
