The Met Office today has issued a yellow warning for most parts of the UK as flooding is expected due to heavy rainfall.

They have also warned that flooding may occur in homes, businesses, and on roads, and that there is a slight chance of fast-flowing or deep water could pose a risk to life.

The most affected region includes northeast England, northwest England, southwest Scotland, Strathclyde, Yorkshire and Humber, Central, and Tayside and Fife, as well as Northern Ireland.

“Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.” the Met Office said, in a statement.

Met Office is expecting heavy rainfall to hit northeastwards on Saturday. They expect 20-40 mm of rain will fall through this period and some locations perhaps seeing 75-100 mm of rainfall

From mid-day Saturday onwards, strong gusty winds will increase in intensity and perhaps some thunder will also accompany the rainfall, leading to increase in the risk of disruptions.

In the early hours of Sunday, heavy rain will have likely cleared from Wales, with this rain easing for Northern England and Scotland by dawn on Sunday morning. Showers & winds will remain strong through Sunday.

The Met Office has reminded people to check road conditions to avoid delays and see if their property is at risk of flooding. If it the case, prepare a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. The likelihood of a yellow weather warning is very low, and the impact is medium.
