Google has confirmed that its latest version of Gemini can scan all your photos to “use actual images of you and your loved ones” in AI image production, to make the best recommendations for Google Photos users. This entails Gemini observing your activities and the people you know. You probably have hundreds of thousands or even tens of thousands of pictures that it can scan and give you personalized results.

We are referring to Google’s most recent AI upgrade path, Personal Intelligence, which allows users to choose whether or not to connect Google apps to Gemini. Google has access to all of your calendar events, so why look for a doctor’s appointment? It reads all of your emails, so why look for a party invitation? And when it sees all of your images, why look for a particular one of you and your loved ones to produce an image?

This is the most recent development in the ongoing conflict between privacy and convenience that is taking place on our computers and phones. Google stated, “Not anymore,” adding:

“Previously, to get a result that felt truly personal, you had to write long, detailed descriptions and manually upload a reference photo just to give Gemini the right context” .

Its AI can scan everything now to form its own opinions about you and everyone you know.

Google gave a statement:

“Personal Intelligence gives Gemini an inherent understanding of your preferences from the start. By integrating this context directly with Nano Banana 2, Gemini can automatically fill in the blanks . A lot of your most significant moments live in your Google Photos library.

By connecting your Google Photos library to Personal Intelligence, Gemini goes a step further than just understanding your interests. It can use actual images of you and your loved ones. Now your inner circle can become the stars of your images, whether you want a result that feels pulled straight from your life or one that takes your imagination a bit further.”

This cuts directly to the core of your most personal and intimate moments by definition. It’s definitely novel and thrilling. However, before you link your personal information to Google’s AI platform, you must make a thoughtful decision. Before it is implemented globally, this will initially be available in the United States.

Google assures everyone and said:

“Bringing personal details into your images shouldn’t mean compromising on privacy, which is why our core commitments haven’t changed. The Gemini app does not directly train its models on your private Google Photos library.”

But Google added that:

“We train on limited info, like specific prompts in Gemini and the model’s responses, to improve functionality over time. Connecting your Google apps to Gemini remains an opt-in experience that you can adjust in your settings at any time.”

Gmail’s VP of product, Blake Barnes, acknowledged in a recent update for users:

“There’s a lot going on in AI these days. Sometimes it might even feel overwhelming.”

After this update lot of people expressed concern over privacy on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, stating that this is against their privacy and even though it is currently in Opt in but Google still has access to user data.
