Sony has made an early announcement about a new game that will be available on PlayStation Plus in May 2026. The upcoming free game lineup for PlayStation Plus in May will be revealed as of this week by Sony. The current April freebies, which comprise Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I–III Remastered, and Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream, will be replaced with these games on May 5th of next week. However, Sony has already revealed one game that will be available on the service later this month, ahead of the announcement of this new PS Plus cycle.

Actually, Sony made this statement during PlayStation’s State of Play in February a few months ago. It was revealed late in the show that Time Crisis would debut on PS Plus in May. Only Premium customers will be able to play this new port of the 1997 PS1 game, which is scheduled to be the most recent addition to PS Plus’s Classics catalogue. When Time Crisis launches on May 19th, it will be accessible on the PS5 and PS4 in addition to being sold separately through the PS Store, just like other PS1 games that have previously been re-released.

Aside from this brief mention in the State of Play, Sony hasn’t released many fresh details about this Time Crisis transfer, so many PS Plus subscribers probably weren’t even aware that it was coming to the platform. Having said that, it was confirmed that Time Crisis would have gyro aiming on both the PS5 and PS4, making the experience it offers comparable to that of the original game that used the light gun accessory. In addition, this version of Time Crisis should include additional features like quick saves, a rewind function, and enhanced visuals.

The PS Plus free game selection for May 2026 is as follows:

FC 26 EA Sports

Sony Announced New PlayStation Plus Game for May 2026

Electronic Arts’ most recent football simulation, EA Sports FC 26, launches on PlayStation Plus ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, albeit it doesn’t feature that specific event because EA surrendered the FIFA license in 2023. More than 20,000 players from more than 750 clubs and national teams participate in FC 26’s tournaments and live events. As part of May’s promotions, PlayStation Plus customers will be eligible for a special add-on, the EA Sports FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users will be able to access the game via PS Plus.

Wuchang: Feathers Fallen

Sony Announced New PlayStation Plus Game for May 2026

The female pirate fighter Wuchang, the protagonist of the Souls-like action role-playing game Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, awakens in the last years of China’s Ming Dynasty with no recollection of her history. In our review of the 2025 game, we gave Wuchang: Fallen Feathers high marks for its “layered and deep combat system,” but we weren’t as fond of the boss difficulty balancing. The PS5 will be able to play Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

Nine Sols

Developed by Red Candle Games, Nine Sols is a 2D action-platformer with deflection-focused gameplay reminiscent of Sekiro. In order to defeat the titular Nine Sols, the rulers of a deserted land, players assume the role of hero Yi. There will be nine Sols available on the PS4 and PS5.

Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream, the April 2026 PlayStation Plus Essential games, are still available to PS Plus subscribers through May 4.

The lowest level of Sony’s subscription gaming service is called PlayStation Plus Essential. It provides cloud storage, a monthly selection of free PS4 and PS5 titles, online multiplayer access, and savings on PlayStation Store purchases. PlayStation Plus Essential is available for $79.99 a year, $24.99 for a three-month subscription, or $9.99 per month.
