You might have a major issue if you own a Galaxy S25 or S24 phone as owners of these new flagships are apparently experiencing a daily nightmare due to most recent security update of Samsung, as batteries drain quickly and devices begin to overheat.
Google Pixel owners have also reported “severe” battery depletion with the latest security update, so Samsung users are not alone. Given that, one may think that this is a common Android issue, but it doesn’t seem to be connected.
According to Android Authority’s own reader survey, the majority of Galaxy S25 and S24 customers would be impacted.
The website says:
“The exact cause of the issue is still unknown, but it requires immediate attention from Samsung. The company has yet to acknowledge the issue, leaving users without a fix.”
Meta applications have been identified as one possible reason of these recent problems, although the exact explanation is still unknown. However, Samsung’s Knox Matrix platform, which offers Apple-like security throughout the Samsung ecosystem, might be the other offender. This has just been improved, which makes it a plausible cause of these problems.
Android Authority says:
“It’s truly tormenting when you install an update, only for it to ruin an important aspect of your phone, such as the battery.”
While most users will notice an impact, it won’t be as detrimental to their regular phone use as this, some users are warning that their batteries run out in a matter of hours.
Additionally, claims have surfaced that Samsung has released a “surprise” second security update for users this month, affecting the Galaxy S26 and S25 phones. There is currently no indication that this resolves the battery problems; a double update in April is more likely to be the result of additional security fixes.
